Obamacare will be Repealed

Obamacare is down, but it's not dead. Many concerned Americans think the current travails of the Obamacare exchanges will cause the law to fail on its own. Not so.

Perhaps the president and Congressional Democrats were not fully prepared for the fiasco that they face today, but they likely knew Obamacare would not be an easy installation of national health care. In 2009 and 2010, they were focused on enactment. Their sole objective was to put national health care into law; to create Obamacare implementation centers (exchanges) and to establish permanent funding. They knew that once Obamacare was in law, it would be hard to repeal.

But Obamacare will be repealed. Count on it. Plan for it. Work for it. Otherwise we'll be left with a country called "America in Name Only." I don't know about you, but I am quite unwilling to accept such a future. The light from the "shining city on a hill" must not be extinguished by this law, this president or this Congress.

Democrats are upset by the endless string of Obamacare snafus, but they were quite willing to pass a health care bill they never read. And they remain quite willing to fumble it all the way to the finish line. Socialized medicine has been a liberal goal 100 years in the making.

Do not miss the obvious.  Democrats are not asking President Obama to repeal the law. And he is not proposing to do so. The Obama administration is simply using executive power - legally and illegally - to smoothe ruffled Democrat feathers with temporary exemptions until the law can be fully imposed without exemptions for anyone - except themselves.

The liberal side of the political aisle is most concerned about the political ramifications of implementation delays, not the real-life impact of the law on constituent lives. They fear losing political power; they do not fear socialized medicine. They want national health care because once they correct the "mal-distribution" of wages and wealth nationwide (as U.S. Senator Max Baucus claimed Obamacare will do), they will be in control of much more than health care. As I've said before,  "He who holds our health care holds our lives."

Through Obamacare, Democrats plan to:

  • Force everyone in a government-run and government-funded health care system.
  • Redistribute everyone's wages and wealth through taxation, fees, and expensive premiums.
  • Run millions of bureaucratic fingers through the worker's cash before wages and wealth are redistributed.
  • Promise coverage for all without revealing how they will ration health care to all.
  • Secure election votes for Democrats far into the future.

They want freedom, free markets, free patients and free doctors to disappear - forever.

Liberal members of Congress are not retreating from national health care. They are simply trying to make sure they stay in power long enough to fully embed national health care into American soil and American souls.

We the People must not let that happen.

While still in law, Obamacare has life. It has funding. It has authority. It is a living, breathing law that requires federal implementation. We must not allow the law to revive itself from its current disarray. We must permanently disable it.

News to Know:

Belgium Votes for Child Euthanasia

Euthanasia for children is now legal in Belgium. By a vote of 50 to 17, a bill granting euthanasia rights to minors was approved by the Belgian Senate. When the bill passes, there will be no age limit for choosing to die using a Belgian doctor. Under the bill, children under 18 who are "of sound mind" may request death if the situation is "medically hopeless."

"Death is Not a Harm" Claims Author

The Journal of Medical Ethics is discussing bioethics and bioenhancement. Views range from those arguing that life must be preserved as long as possible to those countering that death is inevitable and prolonging life is potentially dangerous. One writer claims, "That death is not a harm to the person who dies, and that persons can neither be harmed nor wronged by events that occur after their deaths."

Should Unexpected Medical Findings be Disclosed?

TThe Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues has released " Anticipate and Communicate," a report on what to do with, and whether to talk to patients about, unexpected findings during research, clinical examination and genetic testing. These "incidental findings" happen when medical tests and procedures reveal a condition or propensity for a condition that the doctor was not looking for. Not everyone wants to know or is prepared to know.

Have a "Happy Health-Care Holiday"

The Obamacare marketing barrage continues, with proponents that used Twitter to encourage young people to discuss health insurance over the holidays. In case you missed it, one campaign features the photoshoppable "pajama boy" (he has his own series of ads, and there's even a YouTube video). The administration also targeted specialty groups, posting a "Rudolph with the Flu" picture through, a site geared towards enrolling homosexual men into Obamacare.

Delay ... Delay ... Delay

As Obama-orchestrated implementation delays grow, major insurers agreed to extend their deadlines for Obamacare premium payments to Jan. 10 for individuals who got their Obamacare plans by Dec. 23. This was further extended in some states to December 24. Those who signed up by the deadline and meet the January payment deadline will have coverage retroactive to Jan. 1. This delay was in response to the mass confusion and enrollment delays caused by

Gingrey to Sebelius: 'Prove It'

It has been reported that Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius only met face-to-face with President Obama once in the three plus years before the Obamacare rollout, something Sebelius denies. In a House meeting in late Dec. 2013, Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-GA) asked Sebelius to verify her statement that she met with President Obama "a lot." A flustered Sebelius only responded by waving her hands, saying "I, I..." before Gingrey was cut off.

Obama 'Hijacks' Tech Meeting

During a recent White House meeting called to discuss the NSA's overreach in seizing electronic records with some of America's largest tech companies, President Obama switched topics and launched into a PR pitch about, displeasing most of the gathered executives. "That wasn't what we came for," said one company's vice-president. "We didn't really care for a PR pitch about Obamacare," said another executive.

Americans Prefer Physicians

Nearly three-quarters (72%) of Americans prefer to receive medical care from a physician rather than a non-physician provider, according to new health care and health care provider survey conducted by Ipsos. Results of the survey show that 9 of 10 Americans would choose a physician to lead their ideal medical team. Respondents indicated that they believe physicians are more knowledgeable, experienced and trustworthy than non-physicians.

Nurses Top List; Congress Near Bottom

Americans' rating of the honesty and ethics of Congress has fallen to 8% in the latest Gallup poll. Meanwhile, nurses retain the top ranking (82%) for trustworthiness while lobbyists rate a 6% rating. Medical doctors scored a 69% while nursing home operators got only 32%. The percentages reflect survey respondents who said "high" or "very high."  How will doctors score if they change their practice to comply with government health care rationing protocols?

A Study like None Other

A new study conducted by Ipsos Reid on behalf of Spectro reports that the average Canadian scratches itchy places on their bodies for nearly half of the calendar year, while one in five Canadians scratch all 12 months. Legs are the itchiest spot and women and young Canadians are the most likely to have itchy skin during Canadian winter. At least it wasn't the government conducting this study with taxpayer dollars.

Grad-Student Experiments with Cash for Care

24-year-old Maggie Petersen is a married graduate student. Petersen was on her parents' plan through her undergraduate graduation, and then switched to her husband's plan when they married. When his insurance ended in January, Petersen learned how to negotiate for care using cash payments but later decided to join her parents' plan as allowed under Obamacare and only use cash if the insurance doesn't cover needed care.

What is Walker Doing?

Is Wisconsin planning to implement Obamacare? Governor Scott Walker's proposal to enable individuals to receive federal taxpayer-funded Obamacare subsidies directly from insurers (not through any exchange) passed the Assembly 64-32, with six Democrats joining all Republicans. But as Halbig vs Sebelius argues, no subsidies, no mandates or penalties. It argues there can be no subsidies in so states without exchanges (like Wisconsin) are exempt from mandates and penalties. What is Walker doing?

First Lady to Hawk Obamacare

Michelle Obama has largely stayed away from Obamacare promotion, but now she is stepping into the spotlight to help market the troubled health care bill directly to the people. In mid-December, the First Lady hosted a group of mothers in the oval office to discuss Obamacare, and sat for interviews with black radio hosts. Michelle Obama's involvement comes as an attempt to humanize Obamacare, and her public efforts are expected to grow in 2014.

Quote of the Week:

"As you'd expect, the president's personal information is not readily available in the variety of government databases uses to verify identities." - a White House official who said a White House staffer went to the D.C. Exchange to symbolically sign up President Obama for Obamacare's least expensive plan, The Washington Post, December 23, 2013.

Stats of the Week:

850,000 - number of people who visited last Monday by 2:00 p.m., a rate five times higher than the previous Monday.
