Concerned Public Cluelessness on Obamacare

Lack of knowledge is helping President Obama impose the Affordable Care Act. The public does not like "Obamacare" but they say they like the Affordable Care Act. Most don't know it's the same thing -- and the federal government and Obamacare supporters want to keep it that way. That must not happen.

Jimmie Kimmel Live! went onto the streets of Los Angeles with a video camera and asked the public which they preferred: Obamacare or the Affordable Care Act. Almost to a person they disliked Obamacare but liked the ACA. They thought Obamacare forced people to buy insurance and took away their choices. They said the ACA provided coverage. The interview explained the truth to one individual who dislikes Obamacare:

Interviewer: Do you know that Obamacare and the Affordable Care Act are the same thing?"

Woman: "No, they're not."

Interviewer: "Yes, they are."

Before he showed the video, Jimmy Kimmel reminded the audience that Obamacare and the ACA are one in the same. Craig Patrick, a Tampa Fox News reporter found the same lack of knowledge in a delightful story that highlighted the confusion surrounding Obamacare. (at 1:40)

This confusion may be good for the president's agenda to drive everyone into the Obamacare exchanges, but it's a major problem for those of us who want to protect Americans from government control of doctors and government rationing of care. A concerned public that remains clueless will not oppose the federal takeover until it's too late.

The deception is broad. As Politico reports, healthcare.gov has been all but scrubbed of any references to Obamacare and state exchanges don't use the term at all. Healthcare.gov and the state exchanges call themselves "marketplaces" even though they are multi-million dollar, taxpayer-funded government bureaucracies that have zero private insurance policies to sell.

As long as exchanges avoid the term "Obamacare" people who enroll won't know they are unwittingly funding the implementation of Obamacare.

Once upon a time, Obama and ACA supporters publicly embraced the term. No longer. On January 9, 2014, former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi corrected a reporter who called it "Obamacare," saying, "First of all, it's called the 'Affordable Care Act."

Here's a fact: Exchanges ARE Obamacare. MNsure.org is Obamacare.  CoveredCalifornia.com is Obamacare. Kynect is Obamacare. Connect for Health Colorado is Obamacare. Healthcare.gov is Obamacare. All state and federal government exchanges are Obamacare: data-collecting, government-controlling mechanisms to eventually impose single-payer health care.

Tell everyone you know. Help the concerned (but clueless) learn the truth. Donate to our efforts to let people know the truth! Only 6 weeks left for open enrollment. Let your friends and family know the ACA and the Exchanges are Obamacare. Tell them they'll lose their privacy, their choices, their doctors, their health care dollars and their personal control. Tell them to Refuse to Enroll in exchange coverage.

Telling the Truth about Obamacare,

News to Know:

Delays on Display

Last week the Obama administration announced the Obamacare mandate for medium-sized businesses will be delayed again -- until 2015. The announcement came after a long list of delays, 27 that President Obama has unilaterally made to the law without the approval of Congress. Now, the Republican National Committee has released a infographic that puts them on display.

$56,816 To Sign Up One Enrollee

Hawaii is spending $56,819 per enrollee signed up, per Kaiser Foundation. For Washington D.C., per enrollee cost is $26,242 and Massachusetts comes in at $22,124. Nationwide, the cost works out to $1,789 per enrollee if one considers the total $5.2 billion spent on all the exchanges, the $217 million in federal grants for "navigators," and the $488 million the IRS spent getting ready to enforce ObamaCare.

Texas Democrat Wants National Exchange

" We need a national health insurance exchange," says U.S. Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-TX). He along with members of the Democratic Texas Delegation say a state exchange reduces the market leverage of the federal exchange, increases complexity, and relies leadership in Texas isn't interested in administering it. They say this leads Texans with "second rate plans," Moving to a national exchange, they claim, would better protect consumers. So far Obamacare has hurt consumers, not protected them.

Is Colorado Exchange Director a Thief?

Christa Ann McClure, the Connect for Health Colorado exchange director, has been indicted for stealing from her last employer, the federally funded Housing Montana, while she worked in the state auditor's office. "Integrity and public trust are paramount to the mission of Connect for Health Colorado. We take extensive measures to protect consumer information and technology systems," CHC spokesman Ben Davis said in a statement released Wednesday. If convicted, she could face fines and 5, 10 or 20 years in prison or more. She left Montana April 2013. Her trial is in June. She has pleaded not guilty.

Coercive California

According to Obamacare provisions, insurers must cancel policies that do not adhere to federal regulations. As a result in California, many people report that their insurance providers enrolled them into new insurance plans without their permission and some people are paying for two policies rather than one. The California Department of Insurance is currently investigating the issue to determine what legal ramifications are associated with insurers enrolling consumers into new plans without their permission.

Obamacare Failures Deny Care for Children

While Democrats, including MN Democrat Keith Ellison, continue to tout the fact Obamacare will likely cause over 2 million people to leave the labor force because laziness is apparently a good thing, CBS News released a surprisingly critical report of the President's signature legislation. The in-depth report highlighted a growing problem in Washington State, in which new Obamacare plans are denying and disrupting care for children.

Could You Be Automatically Enrolled in Obamacare?

The vision of Obamacare was to create a "no wrong door" environment for citizens for everyone. However, it appears there is a closed door instead with the June 2012 Supreme Court decision that made Medicaid expansion optional for states.  As a result of the opt-in approach to health insurance and low enrollment numbers, policymakers may at some point turn to a discussion of automatic enrollment mechanisms for coverage through the exchange.

Government Spin Zone on Obamacare Enrollment

While the Obama Administration brags about enrolling nearly 3.3 million people in the new government marketplace as of Feb., other facts dispute the pronouncement as reported by CBS News and others. The total number enrolled represents a small proportion that 'should be' interested and necessary for success. Additionally, the equation doesn't subtract enrollees who have not yet paid for their new coverage or who were already insured but experienced cancellation due to Obamacare.

Obamacare not only Reduces Incomes but Rations Senior Care

A Brooking Institution study shows Obamacare reduces incomes for Americans age 65 and older. One of the study authors remarked that the President and Congress went to great lengths to prevent the ACA from adding to the federal budget deficit. Rather than add to deficit spending, Obamacare cuts the rate of Medicare spending growth that is ultimately considered as income to Americans over 65 years in age.

Don't Be Swayed By the Propaganda

An analysis by Avalere Health incorporates enrollment figures released on February 12, 2014, as well as updated state-specific tracking from publicly available resources. According to Austin Frakt, at the Boston University School of Public Health, there may be a substantial number of people who come to depend on the law before midterm elections and making it more difficult to repeal it. Don't let numbers discourage you. No one can even say how many were uninsured.

Restaurant Adds Obamacare Surcharge to Bill

Fox News reports that a restaurant in Los Angeles, Calif., is now charging patrons a 3-percent surcharge to pay for their employees' Obamacare. Similar to how itemization of surcharge and taxes are displayed on phone and other utility bills, this surcharge reflects the mandated cost that government causes to be passed onto consumers. If customers do not want to pay the charge, the restaurant suggests that customers deduct three percent from the waiter's tip.

How Long Will You Live?

You're not a worm, but lifespan predictions are starting with these creatures. Scientists have discovered a way to accurately predict worm lifespans. This could lead to new science on human lifespans. They looked at the bursts of activity in mitochondria, a part of living cells. Geneticists at the National Institute of Biological Sciences in Beijing conducted the study. The mitochondrial theory of aging was first proposed in 1972 and remains controversial.

Quote of the Week:

"Let's make the courageous choice. Let's say no." - Arkansas State Representative Bruce Westerman (R) during a floor debate over a state program that used Medicaid dollars to enroll low-income residents in private health insurance, a plan backed by President Obama but Westerman said it would make the state "an enabler for Obamacare." The Wall Street Journal, February 18, 2014

Stat of the Week:

$8,018,364 - high-end estimate for costs to large physician group practices to implement the government's new ICD-10 coding system for diagnoses, which is expanding from 17,000 codes to 140,000 detailed codes. Twila Brase of CCHF: Plan Now for the 2014 Tax Year and Obamacare Penalties

ST. PAUL, Minn. - As Americans gather their 2013 tax documents this month, Twila Brase, patient advocate and co-founder of Citizens' Council for Health Freedom, says the 2014 tax year will look much different for those who are not enrolling in Obamacare and choosing to remain uninsured - therefore subject to a penalty.

As Brase shared in her Health Freedom Minute late last year, citizens choosing not to enroll in Obamacare should protect themselves from the IRS taking too much tax in 2015. Continue reading

$3.8 Billion and Counting for Exchanges

The Obama administration has doled out $3.8 billion to state Obamacare exchanges. There are only 14 of them, and many of them fear the loss of funding on January 1, 2015. Imagine the cost to federal taxpayers if all the states had decided to establish these federal takeover centers. California is already setting aside $200 million in anticipation of the loss of funding. Minnesotaʼs exchange expects a $3 million deficit. Continue reading
